Host a VISTA Member

Background

Project proposals are open up for organizations interested in hosting one or more AmeriCorps VISTA members during the 2026-2027 service year! These year-long projects are scheduled to take place either in the spring (April) or Summer (August) of 2026 and extend one full year. MCNCE AmeriCorps VISTA places national service members with Montana schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in order to build organizational efficiency, efficacy, and program reach by completing one-year, capacity building projects. The MCNCE VISTA priority areas are: College Access & Success, K-12 Success or School Readiness, Community Resilience, and Veterans & Military Families.

Timeline

2026 start dates for VISTA members will be April 6th and August 10th. We are currently accepting applications to host VISTA members. Host Site project proposals for April 6th start date have been filled. Applications submitted in early 2026 will be for the opportunity to host an August 2026 VISTA member.

All proposals are reviewed and evaluated on a rolling basis. Slots are limited and submission of a project does not guarantee approval of a project proposal. Contact Josh Vanek or Dan Corradini with questions.

Proposal Process

Preparation

  1. Before Submitting a proposal, we recommend that you review the following information:
  2. If your organization has not previously partnered with with our VISTA program, we recommend that you schedule a time to speak with Josh Vanek, to assess whether this program can work for your organization’s needs.
  3. When you are ready to submit a proposal, download and review these supporting documents. They must be signed and attached to the proposal.

Submission & Approval

  1. Complete your VISTA Project Proposal online here (https://mtcc.submittable.com/submit/309053/2025-2026-americorps-vista-project-proposal-application).
    • Your proposal will be completed via Submittable. If you have not used Submittable before, you will be prompted to create an account when you first access the link above.
  2. After submitting your proposal, we will review it and contact you if there is need for clarification, or to request modifications to align the project with AmeriCorps VISTA regulations and the MCNCE mission.
  3. Projects that are found to meet AmeriCorps VISTA regulations and to align with the MCNCE mission will receive notification of their approval.
  4. Approved projects will be provided instructions to complete “A VISTA Position Details Form”. This form details the VISTA member’s responsibilities and qualifications, along with other information required to successfully recruit and place a VISTA member with your organization. This form will require you to complete and submit a VISTA Assignment Description (VAD), which is equivalent to a job description for the role. You may review VAD information below:
