Description

The Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement invites applications for an Associate Director (Program Manager II) to lead its anti-poverty AmeriCorps VISTA program and student-facing initiatives. The Associate Director travels regularly to our 18 member campuses and works with a high degree of independence and initiative, providing value to . The role works closely with the network office staff and service members, AmeriCorps VISTA members, funders and stakeholders across the state supporting college student civic engagement and campus-community partnerships.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Grant writing, budget creation and submission to funders.
  • Liaison with UM Office of Sponsored Programs and Business Services.
  • Annual projects like the Impact Report, Scholarships and Awards.
  • Convening the Campus Food Pantry Community of Practice, supporting staff working with student basic needs, access and success.
  • Administering a statewide, college-based AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) service program, supporting VISTA members and supervisors whose anti-poverty projects build capacity to support services for first generation college and low-income people in Montana.
  • Developing a robust set of projects to host VISTAs, both within higher education institutions and partnerships with nonprofits, government agencies, schools and districts.
  • Traveling to campuses and communities around the state for outreach, site monitoring, site development, support and training.
  • Providing training and technical assistance to VISTAs and supervisors.
  • Pursuing partnerships, e.g., with campus offices, nonprofits, state agencies to provide VISTAs to support climate change resilience support, college access and completion support, and support for student basic needs.
  • Tracking site performance, and providing data to funders and stakeholders while ensuring programmatic and grant compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a timely, professional manner.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and ability to learn University policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and implement office procedures and systems, and work plans.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Ability to digest complex grant and program material and train others.
  • Professionalism and strong customer-orientation.
  • AmeriCorps, VISTA or Peace Corps Program and/or project leadership and management experience.
  • Strong understanding of grants management, budgeting, accounts receivable and payable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including phone and email etiquette and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office hardware (computers, telephones, printers) and software, including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva, WordPress, and Submittable.
  • Knowledge of culture and communities in our region.
  • Experience with HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to travel statewide and communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistent office hours, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, throughout the calendar year (including summers).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience administering an AmeriCorps (or other National Service) program.
  • Professional experience with federal grants management.
  • Experience using the University of Montana database software and systems, including Banner and UMDW.
  • Master’s degree in a related area.
  • Website maintenance (with WordPress) skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse people cultures, including tribal, aged, rural and high-poverty communities.
  • Volunteer and service experience.

Additional Information

Work Schedule:            Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Probationary Period:   Six (6) months minimum
